Thanks to your support and the support of hundreds of other wooden boat lovers around the globe, HOWB has completed its THIRD full year with flying colors.  This Episode is dedicated to Reviewing the Highlights of 2014 and looking forward to Plans for 2015.

Highlights of 2014

  • I attended 2 Boat Festivals- Port Townsend WBF, Seattle Center for Wooden Boats Lake Union Festival
  • Continued doing phone interviews via Skype – love this capability
  • Sold my first “real” boat – a 14’ semi-dory I built and launched in 1997
    • Now planning on finishing the partially completed SCAMP I purchased Dec 2013
  • Taught a class at Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival – Building Your First Wooden Boat, A Primer
  • Published 41 podcasts including the following special interviews:
    • Jon Wilson founder of WoodenBoat
    • Colin Angus, 2006 National Geographic Adventurers of the Year (with wife Julie)
    • Dick Wagner – Founder of Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle – history of 38th annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival since the inaugural event
    • Carol Hasse & Barb Trailer – history of 38th annual Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival since the inaugural event
    • Jake Beattie on the newly announced Race to Alaska set for June 4, 2015
    • Gayle Brantuk, proprietor of Glen-L Marine
  • The podcasts were downloaded 44,620 times
  • The podcast broke even financially 😀
  • Duckworks Boatbuilding Supplies became the first official HOWB Sponsor

 Plans for 2015

  • Continue to update/improve HOWB website
  • Publish the podcast weekly
  • Keep podcast in the black financially
  • Finish building SCAMP kit I bought 12.27.13!
  • Publish the HOWB eNewsletter weekly
  • Discover new ways to connect with the Wooden Boat World
